The Swinburne University Waterski & Wakeboarders (SUWW) is a University Water sports Club who provide the opportunity and equipment for Swinburne students and others to ski and board behind our own 2009 Mastercraft X-7 Ski boat.

SUWW welcome members in all skiing disciplines from beginner right through to advanced. It doesn’t matter if you have never been on the water before or if you have been skiing your entire life! SUWW has all the equipment you need to master the sport including coaching that will help you from standing up all the way to nailing that back roll or skiing a full course!

The club has strong ties with other university Waterski/Wakeboard clubs across Australia and have an extensive, exciting social program that caters for skiers and non-skiers alike.

By joining SUWW you are not only joining one of Swinburne’s most active and exciting clubs, but an entire network of waterskiers & Wakeboarders from Melbourne and across Australia.

Where we go:

Hazelwood Pondage

Where: Located about 2 hrs from Melbourne in Latrobe Valley

Accommodation: SUWW camps at the Hazelwood caravan park that offers grassy areas top pitch a tent. Cost is generally $10 per night

Facilities: There are showers and toilets available for use that are all included in your site fees.

Weather: The weather at Hazelwood is generally cold as SUWW only head there during winter. But don’t let that scare you, the water is a warm 25°C and up to 40°C in certain parts so you won’t go cold!

Lake Eildon

Where: Around 2.5hrs from Melbourne, A large lake located just over the Black Spur.

Accommodation: On weekend trips we will usually find somewhere to camp on shore however it is not uncommon for us to find ourselves on a houseboat or under a roof nearby. Cost is usually $10 per night for accommodation.

Facilities: Toilets are normally very close by however showers are a bit more difficult to come by unless we are staying on a houseboat or house!

Weather: Over summer the weather at Lake Eildon is generally pretty good! Nice warm days that make it perfect to be out on the water! During winter it is far too cold to be in the depths of Eildon however it is perfect skiing in the warmer months.

Torrumbarry

Where: Located about 3 hours north of Melbourne on the Murray River

Accommodation: We normally find a nice spot to camp on the side of the river and as it is public land it is free to camp! There is a caravan park located close by for those who would like a bit more comfort.

Facilities: There are no facilities at all where we camp however the caravan park is located close by and you can use their facilities for a small fee.

Weather: During summer the weather in Torrumbarry is perfect. Hot days with plenty of shade to get out of the sun. As with anywhere along the Murray the big trees offer plenty of shade and protection from the wind so there is always flat water to ski on!
